I have this on vhs and have been waiting for this graceful Zeffirelli production from the MET to be released on dvd. Stratas and Carreras are extraordinary. 28+ years later, the audience quiet applaud the situation when the curtain goes up on Acts 2 and 3. Bravo to all interested.

There seems to be a tiny confusion with Mike Smith’s review of the various versions of “La Boheme”. Yes, the 1977 DG version was historic…I remember it well. But Scotto WAS Mimi and not Musetta…(that role was sung by Maralin Niska) . The 2008 EMI version was a total destroy (as most of the EMI HD DVDs which it offered) . The 1977 DG version is the BEST, in my conception, because it offers us the Mimi of the tall Teresa Stratas and not Scotto as Mike Smith states…Scotto is Musetta on this DVD and is fantastic. I was a huge fan of Scotto and would give my peek teeth to have her Met performances of “Butterfly” and “Il Trittico” on DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Giacomo Puccini: La Boheme! Click Here

The combination of Stratas and Carreras on this DVD is overwhelming. Pavarotti was a heavenly singer but could never muster up enough emotion in any of his roles. Plus we have this unbelievable and atmospheric Zeffirelli Production!!!

I strongly recommend this version. DG does a substantial job with remastering the video and audio of the stale Pioneer Met DVDs giving us perfect clarity and surround sound. Once you Inspect and HEAR Stratas, you will want no other Mimi.

I HAVE ADDED THE FOLLOWING COMMENT ON OCTOBER 28, 2009: I received this recent DVD yesterday. DG has done a masterful job with it. The DTS 5.1 sound is out-of-this world….sounds as if one were actually sitting in the audience at the MET. The video is powerful brighter and clearer than was the musty Pioneer version. It has more language choices. There are two splendid mini-documentaries: Zeffirelli working the La Boheme rehearsal at the Met and one on Puccini. This is a MUST occupy.
Cell Phone Antenna Booster
Razor Cell Phone
Reverse Cell Phone Directory

This DVD release takes me wait on to October, 1977 when I first saw “The Tubby Albert Halloween Special” on network television. I was always a fan of the Saturday morning “Plump Albert & The Cosby Kids” cartoon, and of this special in particular. This special doesn’t quite match “It’s The Gargantuan Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” but it’s calm a classic that deserves to be seen by kids of all ages. Maybe it’s unprejudiced a chance to stroll down memory lane and relive Halloween’s gone by, but it definite is nice to have this in my collection. The bonus episodes are also savory.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fat Albert’s Halloween Special! Click Here

For older kids like me, it’s tremendous to contemplate Tubby Albert and the gang go Trick or Treating once again. And, like Bill Cosby says at the beginning of the TV series, “You may even learn something before it’s done… so let’s fetch ready, ok? HEY! HEY! HEY!”

My kids fancy Tubby Albert and the lessons the group teaches. Kindness generosity and friendship all values we want in todays society.
Cell Phone Wallet
Best Cell Phone Deals
Pay As You Go Cell Phones

After waiting so long to eye some of these big films in widescreen DVD, it is a major disappointment to glance the quality of the transfers in this collection. As another reviewer has distinguished, Naked Spur is not marvelous and Cheyenne Social Club looks like the entire film was transferred out of focus. Crude bit rate to manufacture two features fit on the (two sided) DVD? Who knows. Hard to have the source material is marred in this contrivance. I bought the collection; Cheyenne and Firecreek are available on their bear as a two-disc location that may or may not be better. I’ve seen Warner features 30 years older that perceive considerable better. Shame on you Time Warner.

No Hollywood star ever ‘reinvented’ himself as successfully as Jimmy Stewart, from the idealistic, ‘Aw, Shucks’ boy-next-door of the Golden Age, to the intense, driven loner of the Mann and Hitchcock films of the 50s, to everybody’s common ‘father figure’ of the 60s and 70s…this collection, while certainly not his best films of the 1940s-1960s, offers one bonafide ‘classic’ (“The Naked Spur”), and five other titles definitely worth owning!

“The Stratton Legend” (1949) – 6′4″ Stewart and 5′1″ June Allyson are so ‘natural’ together in their three films (they also made “The Glenn Miller Account” and “Strategic Air Voice”), that you might honestly consider they were married in exact life! Based on a suitable tale, of baseball pitcher Monty Stratton, who miraculously returned to the game after losing his leg in a hunting accident, it’s the chemistry between the stars that makes this film work so well. Stewart has the will to originate a comeback, but Allyson provides the ‘heart’ to design the dream possible. An scrumptious film, particularly for baseball fans (who may gather Stewart’s pitching style a bit ’strange’, even when he had both legs!)

“The Naked Spur” (1953) – Arguably, the best of Stewart’s teamings with director Anthony Mann, in an outdoor saga of reward-driven Stewart attempting to bring in affable (but tainted) outlaw Robert Ryan (who called this one of his common roles) . Complicating matters is Ryan’s devoted girlfriend (Janet Leigh, who was never lovelier), a crusty prospector (Millard Mitchell), and a sleazy ex-soldier (Ralph Meeker, who is beneficial) . The backdrop of the Rockies is breathtaking, the tension, as Ryan manipulates everyone against Stewart, never lets up, and the finale is spectacular.

Buy,Download, Or Stream James Stewart – The Signature Collection! Click Here

Certainly, the best film of the collection!

“The Spirit of St. Louis” (1957) – People are often surprised to behold this Charles Lindbergh biography was directed by Billy Wilder! An almost documentary-style recounting of the events leading to Lindbergh’s solo flight across the Atlantic, in 1927, Stewart was Plan too outmoded in the lead (at 49, portraying the 25-year broken-down pilot), but he projects so considerable sincerity in the role that you can almost forget his age. While the film is a bit dry, it does offer a bright leer at a barnstorming pilot with a dream…

“The FBI Yarn” (1959) – Produced with the cooperation (and supervision) of J. Edgar Hoover and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, don’t inquire to regain any of the skeletons in the closet of either the agency, or it’s megalomaniac and kinky director, but an tantalizing epic of the growth of the bureau, seen through the eyes of lifelong agent Stewart. Elephantine of eminent cases (and a healthy dose of patriotism and anti-Communist rhetoric, as well), the glossy production was one of Stewart’s most current films, and has some unforgettable moments (as he takes on the KKK, the ‘Most Wanted’ 30s gangsters, and the Nazis) …

“Firecreek” (1968) – Any chance to study lifelong best friends Stewart and Henry Fonda working together is worth owning, and this offbeat western is an palatable showcase of the stars. Erudite badman Fonda and his gang hole up in a petite town, as pacifist part-time lawman Stewart tries to avoid bloodshed. The tension builds, nicely, as the gang terrorizes his community, and Stewart’s helplessness builds to nettle. The resolution is worth the uninteresting buildup, but this is a film you HAVE to be patient with…

“The Cheyenne Social Club” (1970) – Directed by Gene Kelly, the last Stewart/Fonda teaming is a hilarious romp, about aging cowpoke Stewart ‘inheriting’ a bordello. Buddy Fonda tags along to section in Jimmy’s excellent fortune, and is amazed that his friend wants to SELL the situation! Costarring Shirley Jones as a hooker “with a heart of gold” and a desire to choose down with Jimmy, the tone is light, the performances obedient, and the humor very big. While the box office wasn’t sizable (people seemed to disapprove seeing Jimmy in this kind of film), the movie is enormous fun, and Stewart and Fonda seemed to have a ball, making it!

All in all, this collection is certainly worth investing your money to win!

Medgar Evers was a key person in the civil rights movement. Though as I remember it, we were not taught remarkable about him during Dismal History Month.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ghosts of Mississippi! Click Here

I remember reading how he encouraged a reporter doing a myth on him to focus on the Emmet Till tale, because it was an example of the type of justice Shaded people received in Mississippi. So he was instrumental helping to shine a national spotlight on racism and the resulting violence against Murky people including lynching. He also went undercover posing as a field worker to fetch witnesses to Emmet Till’s assassinate who were apprehensive to go to Mississippi police officers because they feared for their lives.

His kill lop short his primary work as civil rights leader at a time when he was needed most. The movie centers on the toddle of his widow to win justice for him, 30 years after his abolish by Byron De La Beckwith. De La Beckwith was played chillingly by James Woods who gave an oscar obedient performance.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ghosts of Mississippi! Click Here

The movie from all the news accounts I read while following the case sticks stop to what really happened. The performances were good especially Whoppi Goldberg and Alex Baldwin.

Baldwin’s character is in some ways a metaphor for mainstream americans who, despite trying, are tranquil unable to purchase that the Civil Rights movement was about considerable more than being able to eat in a white resturant.

I watched this with my mother, on DVD, and when Baldwin’s character explains to his children why Evers fought for equality so “Shaded people could eat in the same reasturants” my mother said to the screen- ” We fought to set aside our children from suffering the unjust fate of Emmet Till.”

Baldwin convincingly portrays a person who because of his involvement with this case is forced to confront the overt racism he has always ignored in his family and in himself.

Goldberg portrays the manerisms of Myrlie Evers so perfectly, I had an opportunity to support a speech she gave, and only then could I fully bask in the subtle nuances of Goldberg’s performance, which was also oscar obliging.

My only dependable critique was the casting of Yolanda King as Myrlie Evers’ daughter. You unprejudiced don’t contain that Yolanda King and Whoppi Goldberg are mother and daughter. Yolanda King looks older than her in every scene. The director either did not try, or could not compensate using makeup, camera angles or digital effects.

I have not seen Yolanda King in anything else but next to Whoppi Goldberg she seems like a poor actress. It is not too unpleasant for the film because she does not have many scenes.

I know from interviews including one he gave with Myrlie Evers on Oprah that for Grasp Reiner this film was a labor of appreciate, and this probaly influenced his decision to cast Yolanda King in this portion. Many other young actresses could have done justice to this fragment and been believeable as Whoppi Goldberg’s daughter Kimberly Elise comes to mind.

But this one mistake does not occupy away from the overall unbelievable quality of this movie – it is a must contemplate.

`Ghosts of Mississippi’ is the account based on proper events of the final trial of the man who murdered civil rights leader Medgar Evers in 1963. He was tried twice before but both times the case ended in hung juries. It is also a portrait of enduring patience in the fact that his widow, Myrlie Evers, had to wait 30 years for final justice, all the while bright that her husband`s assassin remained a free man.

I can’t honestly assume of too many movies where I have seen Alec Baldwin and Whoopi Goldberg give such impressive acting performances as compared to their work here. They both fit their roles perfectly and it shows. On the other slay of the spectrum, James Woods, who also did an outstanding job, is so into his character that it is almost spooky. The arrangement he behaves and delivers his lines honest gives the impression that you’re looking at total loathe and despicable personified in a man.

To compliment the acting, the movie moves along at a nice jog and portrays the difficulties of preparing a case that is 3 decades broken-down along with the collected unresolved issues of racism unruffled evident in the Mississippi climate. As for the trial itself, this is also a tense atmosphere that adds realism and intrigue to the movie. If I had to produce a comparison, and this being based on similar types of events, I would have to say that this film ranks up there with `Mississippi Burning’ which is also an marvelous movie in its fill correct.

`Ghosts of Mississippi’ is a elegant example of solid acting and directing coupled with a strong, view provoking tale. This film is very exquisite all the design through and I recommend it to everyone.

this movie had what the sequels missed out on, smokey. he fine powerful made the first movie. such memorable lines in this movie at such quantities, it’s hard not to like it. “how do you earn fired on your day off? ” “what you stealin boxes for, you tryin to form a clubhouse? ” i have seen this movie at least 100 times and collected never grow tired of it. whenever i can’t mediate of anything else to peer, friday creeps up and inserts itself into the dvd player. colossal astronomical movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Friday! Click Here

of course deebo was a grand villian. there is allways that tremendous @ss thug that wants to exhibit that noone can step up to him. what a better person to play that role then tom ‘tiny’ lister jr. maybe that guy from the green mile. chris tucker was absolutely astounding as a pothead. i don’t consider anyone could have pulled that role off better then him. ice cube did a big job as craig and i don’t know who played as mrs. parker, but she did a superb job too. then you have the bad preacher played by bernie mac. hillarious movie from beginning to waste especially when they did the flashback scenes with smokey taking a hit of angel dust and finding himself in deebos chicken coop.

this movie had one of the best soundtracks ever set aside together. everything from ice cube and cypress hill to rick james and 2 live crew. best placement in the movie for the soundtrack had to be when craigs girlfriend got out of the car all pissed off and hoochie mamma was playing in the background. the best hood classic ever.

This is THE funniest comedy I have ever seen. I agree with another reviewer: I can spy this movie a million times and never tire of it. It gets funnier and funnier each time.

Tucker stole the prove as Smokey, who sells pot but who also smokes it and it’s that appreciate that causes him grief in the middle of the film. But it’s his lines and his mannerisms as Smokey that fabricate him hilarious.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Friday! Click Here

One of my popular parts is where Rita pulls up to meet Smokey for a blind date. Rita, who said she looked like Janet Jackson but weighed a excellent 250 pounds says lustfully, “Ooo, what’s up? ” The expression on Tucker’s face made me yowl, I was laughing so hard: It immediately dropped as he gets an eyeful of her and says, “Not a damn thing!”

The movie is chock corpulent of goodies. The delivery of the script is what makes this movie and everyone was cast perfectly for their parts.

Sequels were unnecessary because this stands out by itself.
Pre Paid Cell Phones
Reverse Cell Phone Search
Cell Phone Repeater

The single biggest reason to stare this movie is that the star himself was in fact the single most decorated war hero of World War Two, and he is convincing here playing himself with dignity, sincerity, and humility, which, of course, Audie Murphy always had in spades. The movie was adopted from his best-selling autobiography, which my Mom let me read after blackening out all of the four letter slang (as she called it) . Perhaps it shows that he was my childhood hero, and I mild have a personalized autographed photo somewhere reading “Thanks, Barry, for being my fan” that a friend’s mom got for three or four of us ten year olds at the time this movie was released in the mid 1950s. It was the first movie I saw ten times. And I wasn’t alone; Murphy was a national icon.

The movie truly is a classic; tightly directed, poignant, unprejudiced, legal, and showing attractive combat without being gory or maudlin. It sometimes decends into travelogue movie-theater type newsreel moments, but these are thankfully rare and forgiveable. On the other hand, this is an enthralling and absolutely fair memoir of a favorite and uneducated boy from rural Texas who wanted more than anything to be a soldier and encourage his country, and his subsequent deeds and patriotism above and beyond the call of duty inspired a whole generation of us who wanted to imitate his call to country. Unfortunately we walked into another time and the miasma of Vietnam. But that’s another account for another time. Race assist to a time when the honest choices were clearer, and a accurate live hero was available to act his contrivance memorably through an good recounting of his fantastic if abbreviated military career. He may be gone too soon, the victim of a plane shatter in the early 1970s, but his lifetime admirers remain. Luxuriate In!

This is one of my celebrated war films for several reasons. One is that it is always bewitching to watch how a book is translated into film, and in this case, Murphy’s myth is told very well. And I can’t remember many other films where the author plays himself! Though not the best war film ever made, it does bid the sage the procedure Murphy wanted it told, through the eyes of the everyday soldier.

What makes the film stand out to me is that Murhpy gives a more gutsy performance than most people can realize. It was learned many years later that he suffered from recurring nightmares about the horrors he saw in war, and one can only imagine what it was like to have to recreate so many painful memories, especially the scene where his best friend(played by Charles Drake) dies in his arms. Though the character had a different name, the scene is almost exactly the plot it happened.

Buy,Download, Or Stream To Hell and Back! Click Here

Perhaps what I retract from this is how war can so drastically change a person. Murhphy entered the war as an underage oprphan who initially was concept unfit for combat, and went on to become our most decorated combat soldier. While it does procure a exiguous cliched at times, this movie is exquisite because it allows us to examine the trusty hero is the accepted foot soldier, without whom the war could not have been won.
Reverse Cell Phone Number Search
Cell Phone Repeater
Cell Phone Clips

Frederico Fellini’s masterwork 8 ½ is difficult to come largely because of its reputation. Many critics also plot that the film is so complex that it requires multiple viewings to understand, and this is likely to intimidate many viewers. But the truth is that, in spite of its surrealistic flourishes, 8 ½ is more straight-forward than its reputation might lead you to have.

The storyline itself is very simple. A celebrated director is preparing a novel film, but finds himself suffering from creative block: he is obsessed by, loves, and feels unending frustration with both art and women, and his attention and ambition flies in so many different directions that he is suddenly incapable of focusing on one possibility lest he direct all others. With deadlines approaching the cast and crew fall upon him demanding information about the film-information that the director does not have because he finds himself incapable of making an artistic choice.

What makes the film bright is the plan in which Fellini ultimately transforms the film as a whole into a commentary on the nature of creativity, art, mid-life crisis, and the battle of the sexes. Throughout the film, the director dreams dreams, has fantasies, and recalls his childhood-and this internal life is presented on the veil with the same sense of reality as reality itself. The staging of the various shots is unique; one is seldom aware that the characters have slipped into a dream, fantasy, or memory until one is well into the scene, and as the film progresses the lines between external life and internal idea become increasingly blurred, with Fellini giving as powerful (if not more) importance to fantasy as to fact.

The performances and the cinematography are key to the film’s success. Even when the film becomes surrealistic, improbable, the actors beget very realistically and the cinematography presents the scene in keeping with what we understand to be the reality of the characters lives and relationships. At the same time, however, the film has a remarkably poetic quality, a visual fluidity and beauty that transforms even the most ordinary events into something slightly tinged by a dream-like quality. Marcello Mastroianni offers a his greatest performance here, a glorious mixture of desperation and ennui, and he is exceptionally well supported by a cast that includes Claudia Cardinale, Anouk Aimee, and a host of other notables.

I would help people not to be intimidated by the film’s reputation, for its divulge can be like a flash grasped, and when critics spot the film requires repeated viewing what they actually seem to mean is that the film holds up extremely well to repeated viewing; each time it is seen, one finds more and more to bask in and to seek. Even so, I would be amiss if I did not point out that people who assume a cinema of elegant site lines and who disapprove ambiguity or the necessity of interpreting lisp will probably hate 8 ½ a astronomical deal; if you are perilous in your taste on these points you would do well to rent or borrow the film before making a capture. For all others: strongly, strongly recommended.

The most clear achievement in 8 1/2, Fellini’s mind-boggling part of self-examination, is its intrepid mixture of dreams and reality in order to explain the protagonist Guido’s whimsical mind site. Dream sequences arrive and go without warning, depicting Guido’s afflict, yearning, frustration, guilt that can pop up at any instant. The first time we search for Guido’s face, it is his mirror image, hinting to us the unreality we are about to face. Some of the dream sequences have a Bunuel-like surrealism. Some of them, however, blend almost seamlessly into scenes of reality, intentionally confounding us. Some are nightmarish, yet some are warm and hopeful. Some are brief flights of love, and some are lengthy, clarify, wild visions that deem Guido’s heightened sense of confusion and scare. Although the film is often called the best film ever made about a filmmaker, its theme is universal in that it is a bright picturization of a person’s (and by extension, any person’s) mind, which is often worried by the past, tormented by the reveal, and scared about the future and the unknown…

The fresh Criterion DVD of 8 1/2 has a fine video transfer. A frame-by-frame cleanup of the describe has been done, so this DVD is significantly better-looking than Criterion’s laserdisc version in 1989. There are momentary freeze frames during the opening scene, but since they also appeared on the LD, I capture they are normal. The 1.0 mono audio track is indistinguishable in quality from that on the LD — it is mostly desirable and absorbing, although loud sound shows some distortion. The image is anamorphic. The disc is region-free. The audio is supported by newly-translated optional English subtitles.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 8 1/2! Click Here

There is one exiguous discrepancy between the LD and the DVD. The LD contained the American release version of the film in which some scenes, such as the one in which Guido first meets his wife, had altered music cues. The DVD, however, is the novel Italian version, retaining all of its unusual music.

The DVD’s audio commentary comprises of scene-specific comments (whose authorship is unclear), and additional comments from critic Gideon Bachmann and NYU professor Antonio Monda. The result is a sparkling well-rounded audio essay covering the film’s understanding, production details, themes, and artistic significance, as well as personal recollections, anecdotes, and abandoned concepts and scenes. Other extras include two 1-hour films on the filmmakers. The first is “Fellini: A Director’s Notebook”, directed by and starring Fellini himself. It is a sort of Fellini-style DAY FOR NIGHT, a fictional, somewhat amusing legend of how the director goes about making a film. The video/audio quality of this fragment is unpleasant, and there are no subtitles or closed captioning. The second film is a documentary made by German filmmakers in 1993 titled “Nino Rota: Between Cinema and Concert”. It offers an intimate yet enigmatic portrayal of Nino Rota through his personal recordings, film footage of him working with Fellini, clips of some early films scored by Rota, and interviews of his associates and students. One segment is about how Rota recycled his catch from the 1957 film FORTUNELLA to design the theme for THE GODFATHER, an act that would cost him the Oscar nomination. The DVD extras also include 3 current interviews. Sandra Milo speaks candidly about her experiences, both personal and professional, with Fellini. Linda Wertmuller lavishes praises on Fellini’s genius while offering a animated appraisal of Fellini’s psychology that figures prominently in 8 1/2. And Vittorio Storaro pays tributes to the achievements of 8 1/2’s cinematographer, Gianni di Venanzo. Rounding out the extras are 100 or so quiet photos from the region of the film, some of which were taken from deleted scenes.
Reverse Cell Phone Number Search
Cell Phone Ratings
Japanese Cell Phones

In Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike, you will glean 14 very inviting and action packed episodes of the expose. Specifically, this volume contains episodes 29 to 42 so if you haven’t seen the earlier episodes, you may become lost while reading the following review.

Yusuke Urameshi and his teammates Kurama, Hiei, Kuwabara, and a mysterious Masked Fighter have begun their first battle in the Dusky Tournament against team Rokuyokai. The matches during this first round of the tournament are definitely action packed and very fascinating. After Hiei defeats the assumed team leader Zeru, a mysterious man shows up appearing to be nothing more than a drunk, but looks can be decieving… It’s Yusuke’s first match of the tournament and it’s a generous one!

In the tournament’s second round, our heros must face the Dr. Ichigaki Team without Hiei and Kurama who are mysteriously missing. It’s a three on three battle royal, but why does Kuwabara feel terrible for his opponents? After discovering the horrible truth, Kuwabara makes his stand with disastrous consequences. Finally, the Masked Fighter must step in to assist in the brilliantly titled episode: Ambition Destroyed: A Trial by Light. The Dr. Ichigaki team fight is very emotional and the emotional side sometimes overpowers the action itself, which is aesthetic in this fight. The Doctor himself is a lawful villain who you fancy to disapprove lawful up until Yusuke shows him the error of his ways.

The tired Urameshi team must immediately follow the previous battle by facing Team Masho in round three of the Sunless Tournament. Hiei and the Masked Fighter are ruled unfit to fight and Kuwabara is in crude afflict – only Yusuke and Kurama are left to face the whole team! Team Masho is a group of Shinobi who each specialize in some art. The excitement doesn’t halt as you study how Kurama and Yusuke overcome defective rulings by the tournament committee. Finally, the Team Masho leader Risho will view down an unlikely opponent, and Team Urameshi’s only hope to making it to the semifinals.

Overall, this DVD space is terrific. It centers on the Dim Tournament’s first three rounds. You can see the episodes in English or Japanese with subtitles and the extras are lacking, but to derive 14 episodes for impartial over 30 dollars is indeed a stout deal. Again, these episodes are extremely focused around action with some emotion, so if action isn’t your thing, you may not be pleased this. Aloof, there are some comic moments and Yu Yu Hakusho is a terrific display. I recommend this DVD to all fans of anime.

“Yu Yu Hakusho: Second Wind” first season ended with Yusuke and his buddies coming to the Murky Tournament, sure to fight their method to the finals, and defeat Toguro’s team.

So it’s already lovely sure what “Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” consists of — a string of one-on-one fights, with Yusuke and his buddies fighting a series of increasingly hazardous enemies. There’s not a large deal of central station beyond this, but the unsafe problems for Team Urameshi — as well as some cloak-and-dagger machinations — preserve things challenging.

After Kuwabara barely survives his opening bout with the creepy child Rinku, his teammates square off against other members of Team Rokuyukai — Kurama is blackmailed during his bout and must exercise his wits to survive against the man who threatens his mother, Yusuke dukes it out with a drunken warrior, and Hiei unleashes a devastating fire attack called Dragon of the Darkness Flame.

But things buy a inferior turn when they fight Team Ichigaki, a group of human martial artists being controlled by a malignant scientist. The kindhearted Kuwabara can’t bring himself to wound three innocents even if they are out to destroy him — and the mysterious Masked Fighter may be their only hope. And even worse, Kurama and a badly injured Hiei are being attacked outside the stadium. Then Team Urameshi is pitted against a team of lethal ninja with no time to rest. Even worse, Hiei and the Masked Fighter have been tricked into a forcefield, and Kuwabara is badly injured.

Kurama is pitted against a master of body paint who imprisons his body and demon powers, and then a lethal ice master who intends to choose advantage of his helplessness. With Kurama half-dead from his wounds, Yusuke sets off on a inflamed string of fights, against the honorless thug Bakken and the quirky Irish wind demon Jin. But it may not be enough to triumph…

The first and second collections of “Yu Yu Hakusho” basically consisted of a string of smaller adventure arcs, with Yusuke working to vanquish the villain of the week. But “Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” takes a very different format — instead we obtain a series of one-on-one fights. It sounds a bit tedious, but the various superpowers — and some tantalizing side subplots, such as Sakyo’s machinations — support it from being so.

The fights themselves are attractive luminous — killer plants, ice, blood paint, fire dragons, small tornados, killer robots, and a warrior who can coat himself in clay armor. So needless to say, the battles are fairly entertaining and there’s really no scheme of telling how some of them will turn out. The whole subplot about Dr. Ichigaki and his helpless guinea pigs is attractive wrenching, although the ending is a bit limp.

But equally spicy are the stories outside the ring — Toguro and his equally villainous partner Sakyo are doing some behind-the-scenes scheming, although Toguro’s favorable side is also glimpsed. It adds a bit of spice to Team Urameshi’s forthcoming battles with Team Toguro, because a lot more than their lives are now riding on their victory.

Yusuke spends the first few episodes sleeping like a talking log — he does some dazzling ample fights, and we derive to peep his anxiety when Kurama and Kuwabara are being slowly killed in front of him. Hiei is badly injured in an attempt to master a recent technique, and Kurama’s abilities are stretched to the limit when he has to somehow defeat an Ice Master without his abilities.

Kuwabara is the only one who doesn’t change remarkable, but he serves as the kind heart of the team, and even fights when he can barely stand for his friends’ sake. And he provides some comical relief, such as when he sees his beloved Yukina watching his fight.

“Yu Yu Hakusho: Third Strike” is basically an escalating string of supernatural fights, but it’s shiny enough to not be insensible. It ends on a solid mark, and promises to secure even more sharp.
Reverse Cell Phone Search
Cell Phone Number Directory
Reverse Cell Phone Number Look Up
